How to Measure Crusher Wear Parts for an Accurate Replacement Order
Table of Contents
Ordering the wrong size wear part is expensive: a part that does not seat correctly causes uneven wear, lost production and a second shipment. Most fit problems are avoided upstream, at the measurement stage. This guide covers what to measure on the three most common wear parts so your supplier can confirm the profile before casting.
Why Accurate Dimensions Matter
A wear part is not a commodity. The cavity profile, the bolt pattern and the seat surfaces must match the crusher chamber exactly. Supplying a clear set of dimensions (or a drawing) lets a foundry confirm the part against the original specification instead of guessing.
Tip: whenever possible, measure against the original drawing or capture a worn part alongside the cavity it sits in. A worn part measured alone can mislead the profile.
Jaw Plates
Capture:
- Overall length, height and thickness of the plate.
- Tooth profile — corrugated vs flat, tooth pitch and depth.
- Bolt hole pattern — number, diameter and centre-to-centre spacing.
- Seat / backing surface dimensions.
Send a photo of the installed plate and the crusher model. See the jaw crusher jaw plates we supply for the profiles available.
Cone Mantles and Concaves
Capture:
- Mantle outer diameter at the top and bottom of the wear profile.
- Concave (bowl liner) inner profile and the thread / lock arrangement.
- Total height of the mantle and the locating taper.
- Chamber designation (coarse, medium, fine) for your crushing stage.
Because cone profiles are chamber-specific, the crushing stage (secondary vs tertiary) decides the right liner set. Browse cone crusher mantles and concaves.
Impact Blow Bars
Capture:
- Bar length, width and thickness.
- Bolt / wedge hole position and size.
- Rotor pocket dimensions the bar sits in.
- Material preference — high-chrome for abrasive feed, martensitic for mixed duty.
Our impact crusher blow bars are matched to your rotor and feed.
What to Send Your Supplier
A complete inquiry includes:
- Crusher brand and model.
- Part number (if known) or a drawing / marked-up photo.
- The measurements above.
- Material preference and expected throughput.
If you only have a worn sample, a sourcing partner can reverse-engineer the profile and tell you which dimensions must be confirmed before production. For hammer mills, the same logic applies to hammer mill hammers.
