Engineered for the Metso HP4™ / HP400™ cone crusher—the high-capacity standard for secondary and pebble crushing in mining and large-scale aggregates (stationary HP400 / mobile Lokotrack® LT400HP™)—the HP4 Mantle (Head Liner) is a thick-section, precision-machined casting designed to withstand extreme compressive loads and high-inertia gyratory forces. With a 400 kW (536 HP) power draw and large eccentric throw, the HP4 subjects the mantle to severe plastic deformation risk at the lower crushing zone and high-impact fatigue at the feed eye. This mantle is the critical interface for maintaining the HP4’s signature “interparticle crushing” action and high reduction ratio.

Cast from premium high-manganese steel (Mn18Cr2 standard; Mn22Cr2/TiC ceramic-reinforced optional), the HP4 Mantle features a deep, optimized head profile with reinforced lower skirt geometry to resist “bell-mouthing” (flaring) under peak load. The precision-machined spherical seating surface, locking thread (hydraulic lock nut standard), and backing zone are held to strict OEM tolerances to ensure 360° contact with the crusher head. This eliminates the micro-movement that causes head cone fatigue cracking—a catastrophic and expensive failure mode on the HP400 platform. The cavity profiles (EC, C, M, F, EF) are geometrically synchronized with the HP4 Bowl Liner to preserve the parallel zone length and nip angle integrity deep into the wear life.
