Engineered for the Metso HP5™ / HP500™ cone crusher—the 500 kW (670 HP) flagship for high-tonnage mining (pebble crushing, hard rock secondary) and major aggregate production (stationary HP500 / mobile Lokotrack® LT500HP™)—the HP5 Mantle (Head Liner) is the largest, heaviest, and most structurally critical mantle in the HP Series. It manages the highest gyratory inertia and compressive loads in the lineup. With a massive head diameter, high pivot point, and long stroke, the HP5 subjects the mantle to extreme centrifugal flaring forces at the lower skirt and severe impact fatigue at the feed eye. This mantle is the primary determinant of the HP5’s industry-leading reduction ratio and cubical product shape.

Cast from premium high-manganese steel (Mn18Cr2 standard; Mn22Cr2/TiC ceramic-reinforced highly recommended for mining duty), the HP5 Mantle features a deep-profile, thick-section casting with a heavily reinforced lower skirt/heel geometry specifically designed to resist “bell-mouthing” (plastic flaring) under peak 500 kW choke-fed loads. The precision-machined spherical seating surface, hydraulic lock nut thread (M160/M180 class), and backing zone are held to the tightest OEM tolerances in the series. This ensures 360° intimate contact with the crusher head cone, eliminating the micro-movement that initiates head cone fatigue cracking—a 120k+ USD catastrophic failure risk unique to the 500 kW class.
